Comments Thread For: Martinez Gets DiBella's Revenge, Eyes Pavlik and Williams

Sergio Martinez got revenge for his promoter Lou DiBella. On Saturday night at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, Martinez won a twelve round unanimous decision over Kelly Pavlik to snatch the WBO/WBC middleweight crown. Martinez left Pavlik a bloody and bruised mess by the end of the fight. [Click Here To Read More]

Dibella was on the skids there for a while after all his fighters besides Berto were losing. But now he's got Berto doing well, Martinez broke his non winning streak, and he just signed Caballero. He makes better fights than Arum does too even though him and Arum have went at it.

When did he whip Williams? It was a fight of the year candidate. Am I missing something? I became a fan of Martinez after that fight, but I wish people would quit with the robbery ****.

I would like to see him against Williams again, it was such a great fight. I think this time Martinez would beat him clearly, remember he didn't have the proper time to train and adjust to the weight.

Neither fighter had proper time to train because they were both training for different opponents. And Martinez was training for a fight at 158. So the weight had nothing to do with it. There was no "adjusting".

the intent to rob him was there whether the fight was close or not. I agree, though, fight could have gone either way.

Dibella is the best promoter for boxing atm. He doesnt protect his guys, he puts them in real fights thus giving them real oppotunities to achieve stardom or crash and burn.

Hes thrown Malignaggi in with Cotto, Hatton and Diaz.... Martinez with Williams and Pavlik..... Jermain Taylor with everyone.....
