Kelly Pavlik has not improved as a boxer

Kelly Pavlik is the same basic 1-2, head hunting, suspect chinned, flat footed fighter that he was when he was an up and coming contender. That being said, if Jermaine Taylor wasn't such a nervous wreck in the ring and knew how to finish off a fighter when they're in trouble, we would have long forgotten who Kelly Pavlik was. The only difference betwwen Pavlik,then vs. now is that the match making has been more selective to keep him out of fire fights with guys that can hurt him.

I was suprised he didnt go to the body or throw many hooks or uppercuts tonight.

if you put pavlik's intangibles and work with taylor's talent, you'd get an awesome fighter.
you gotta take into consideration that he isnt very talented and his trainer, as well as his boxing environment sucks.
one thing that kinda irritates me about a fighter who's gotten as far as kelly has is his lack of left hook. he throws one of the ugliest left hooks i ever seen

I watched a lot of his fights on the way up until tonight and Pavlik does not have a suspect chin. The guy has really taken bombs and hard shots in a lot of his fights and he takes them well.

All the shots Jermain landed on him in the second round clean on the chin and head would have knocked pretty much every fighter under middleweight out cold.

Beleive it or not, but the only people that can hang with Pavlik right now are Martinez and Williams because Gevor and Sylvester would get KTFO and Sturm would lose pretty much every round.

You must not have seen him get rocked often in those arly fights. A greatchin doesn't mean you never get knocked out. I say he always had a suspect chin just as I did Cotto because although they went on to K.O. the guyst hat hurt them, they were hurt in several fights and ometimes badly. He doesn't have good chin, what he has is a great ability to recover when he gets rocked. Probably the best that i can remember.
