No, I don't think he takes it that seriously, he's just having fun. It's easy to say you're better than those who are no longer in the game. I think he believes he's the best fighter today, and that's all that really matters.
It's the fights that make great fighters not necessarily the skills. Skills-wise Floyd is something special, maybe he is the best... but to compare yourself to greats like Sugar Ray then you have to have the resume to match.
I mean honestly, what the hell do you expect an athlete of that caliber to say? You think Michael Jordan would have said someone was greater in the sport of basketball than he was, or Barry Bonds in his sport? There's no way in hell. These men dedicate their lives to their craft, literally ignore the luxuries many of us delve into to accomplish greatness and you're questioning whether or not he's sincere in his beliefs? You may not agree with him, I don't, but he has every right to say it. Because when you're sleeping, he's up at 3am running 10 miles in the desert. When you were younger, and you and your boys were at the mall? He was in the gym, training to become what he is today. As he says, he's given his life to the sport, and he's accomplished greatness. Why wouldn't he say he's the greatest of all time? If he believed otherwise, I wouldn't respect em.
you damn right he feels he's better than ali and robinson and he has that right---he's always said he's the best fighter ever---why would he box and not believe he's the best ever---he has gone on record before and said he's the best---you don't go in the ring and risk your ****ing life just to say somebody is better than you---i love srr and ali---and i feel srr is the greatest fighter ever, but i believe floyd is the most skilled fighter ever---floyd has every single right to say he's the best ever and he believes it truly---which is why he's said it on more than a few occassions---
i know if i turned pro i would say i was the best ever if i had a career like floyd did coz that's what every fighter is supposed to think---that's confidence---there ain't way in the world i would go out there and bust my ass, train like an animal and say somebody else is better than me--no way possible---it's not my job to think somebody is better than me--it's there job---this is why floyd has been so dominate---so so dominate---because he truly feels he's the best fighter in history----
everybody can agree or disagree with him if they choose---ali said he was the greatest didn't he? i bet srr felt he was the greatest---this is floyd's era, and he has the right to say it---not everybody thinks ali was the greatest fighter ever, and not everybody thinks srr is the greatest fighter ever---there's no way of knowing who is truly the greatest, coz everybody is subjective in their own way----there's fighters that fought srr that floyd would beat and vica versa---i don't care who likes floyd or can't stand him---you mother****ers aren't in the ring doing what he's doing, so **** what you think---he has every right to make the claims he does----
Your first post ******. Nothing wrong with thinking he's the best of this era. He is disrespecting people of the past.
And you obviously don't know much. Ali said that Robinson was the best of all time, he idiolized him and Robinson idiolized Armstrong.
LOL....... I guess you new both Ali and Robinson personally then. You seriously beleive they entered the ring each time thinking "Im good, but not as good as that other guy"?.... haha this was just ONE comment from Floyd, i bet you anything that something in the future he will go on record saying how much is respect or idolized another fighter. They all do it, but at the level he is currently fighting why would he have it in his mind that he is not the best. I dont find it disrespectful at all, people just like digging into things to much. Its a mindset, and its worked out very well for him so far.
But for the record i dont beleive he is better than either Ali or Robinson.
