I think he probably does truly think he's better than them.

I hope Shane wins, and if he does win, I'm curious to see how Floyd would react.

I say this:He`s not better them in accomplishment but he`s way better then them when it comes to boxing skills.

And he still has time to accomplish more then them.

You are missing his point, i'm afraid.

Do you think Kobe Bryant would say "michael Jordan is better than me"? Do you think Alex Rodriguez would say "joe dimaggio is better than me"?

Floyd is in a combat sport. His ego and warrior spirit and arrogance are a part of his armor. I believe he thinks he is the most highly skilled fighter to ever do it. And, quite frankly, the list of guys who were better is very short. Very short.

I'm not saying who would win in a fight...I'm talking about skills.

Name five guys in the history of the sport with better skills than Floyd.

            "You don't play boxing"

If you don't believe you're the best you might as well not even compete. It's that simple.

Most of these fighters dedicate their whole lives to the sport. They eat sleep and shyt boxing. It is their life. Saying someone is better than you in the sport when you are an elite is like saying someone's life is worth more than yours.

I can't fault a few fighters if they feel that way. I don't believe floyd is but he can certainly on very few grounds make the case for himself.

If you asked the same question to Ali/Robinson in their prime, do you really think they would of said someone else was better than them????

Why the hell would you go into a ring thinking that the other fighter is better than you. Might aswell not even show up. When your fighting at their level, you better believe your the best man in that ring.

Shame has five (six?) losses. Including to guys in his own division. Yet he says he is the best and nobody has a problem with it.

                Sigh.

I believe he thinks he's more skilled than those guys (which I agree with), but he can't seriously believe he's more accomplished.

Your first post ******. Nothing wrong with thinking he's the best of this era. He is disrespecting people of the past.

And you obviously don't know much. Ali said that Robinson was the best of all time, he idiolized him and Robinson idiolized Armstrong.
