You know. A trainer who actually knows how to control cuts. I know Martinez beat Pavlik with skill, but I do think if Pavlik had a trainer that knew how to deal with cuts he might have stood a better chance going down the stretch because he was doing good until his face was masked with blood. Goes to show you always have a good cut man in your corner. We saw what has happened to Juan Diaz and now this situation is kinda similar. But full credit to Maravilla. He is a beast.

yer m8 i agree, i had Pavlik winning rounds 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and plus the knockdown. Pavlik would have won at least 2 of the last 4 if he has a decent cutman

don't know who petersen is that you speak of but I just thought it looked poor how they controlled that cut. Using what looked like tissues and napkins and ****.

Look at how Paul Williams was cut in the Phillips fight? I know Phillips ****** at that time, but you still notice of how his trainer got that **** under control. And Williams was able to be competitive in the first Quintana fight with both cuts over his eyes even though he lost. He was cut in the Martinez fight and won it closing the fight out strong even though I had Martinez barely edging it out.

If Pavlik wasnt cut the fight would have been very close. If he had a cut man who could do his job the fight would have been closer. He couldnt deal with the cuts. They changed the fight.

              Disagree.

The fight would've been a lot closer, but Sergio would've still won because he was too fast and Sergio is more skilled than Kelly.

That doesn't always win the fight, as Pavlik showed in rounds 4-8.

nope, kelly still wouldve been outboxed and beaten to the punch repeatedly. i think it was part of sergio's strategy to pace himself in the middle rounds so he could finish strong. he alluded to that in the post fight interview.

a change in corner and location is way overdue though. kelly's loyalty will be the death of his career.
