I agree. What Lucian Bute has done over the last two years is the equivalent of winning the NIT Tournament (American basketball fans will know what I am talking about). He is beating second-tier fighters. Winning the NIT (second-tier) tournament does not mean that you would win the NCAA Champtionship (first tier), It simply means that you have proven that you belong in the NCAA tournament. In other words, don't look at what he has done against second-tier opponents Miranda, Zuniga and Andrade and use that to justify a claim that he would beat a first tier opponent like Pavlik.

Andrade had never been ko'ed and he faced Kessler, Mack, Steiglitz.

He wasn't the greatest but he was the one touted to have an iron chin and Bute one shot made him quit.

Then Bute does it with one shot again, and Abraham couldn't do it, nor Ward with Miranda.

The problem is we won't know how good he is, because of the super six but I think he rates with any of them.

Any fighter who continuosly takes flush shots on the chin over and over, fight afte fight is bound to get dropped sooner than later. And yes, i know it was the body shot that eventually ended that fight but my point remains the same.

His biggest problem is that sometimes he 'lapses', and he could probably get caught during that time. but he is very quick and has nice boxing ability as well. He needs some more refining, more particularly in is defense and poise in the ring, but he has some dangerous tools in his arsenal.

people talk as if he beat 'nobodies', but lets face it...he beat Miranda more impressively than anyone. he beat Andrade more impressively than Kessler. he beat Sakio Bika more impressively than Joe Calzaghe.
its worth bragging about, even if there are unanswered questions about him when it comes to different styles.

I would be extremely interested in seeing him fight Kessler.

True, till then, Froch, Ward and Dirrell > Bute.

Bute shouldn't be ranked above those guys. They got wins to back it up.

Bute beat Bika, Joppy, and Berrio too and all more impressively than anyone else has.

I am not basing this on just one or two fights.

And I don't even particularly like Bute, but his resume is good.

Except for the Andrade first time mishap, he's dominated good fighters.

Kessler is going to be a nobody after the tourney is over. Bute will fight the best which is either Ward or Dirrell. The Europeans are stinking up the tourney. The Americans are a class above the Europeans in the super 6 tourney.

And Bute beat a better version of Bika.

The way Bika has been fighting, Bute beat a way better version than Joe did.

I think Bute is on par with anyone in the super six.
