Pavlik vs Martinez for the 160 Ring Title...

...According the Ring website. Sergio deserves the shot, but how does that work if he's not ranked at 160 (again according to the site)?

    Anybody hear otherwise? Anybody care?

Hes moving up so if he wins he gets the belts and is the number 1 160 Pounder.

That is because Pavlik is The Ring and Lineal champ. And, they might think Martinez deserves a shot cuz I think they have him ranked as the #1 JMW

I guess you beat the champ you get the ring title regardless of previous rank at that weight?

        Makes sense.

**** I'm pumped for this fight!

Even if no belts were technically on the line, if you beat the MW champion in a MW fight, you are the man at 160 regardless of whether you have a bunch of dust collectors taking up space in your trophy room.

Remember when Calzaghe fought B-Hop at 175 for the Ring tittle who was held by Hopkins then, Calzaghe was the 168 Ring champ and he went straight against Hopkins.

if you beat the ring champ, you become ring champ.

It's only if like number 1 fights someone outside the top 3 that it doesnt count, i.e if the belt is vacant, 1 and 2 or 1 and 3 must fight for it
