I believe it was advised after he challenged his own promoter Oscar de la hoya to a fight at welterweight his managers suggested he be submitted to a mentel health clinic.

Abdiel, I dug up an old newspaper article regarding Lazcanos differences with Golden Boy Promotions.
This is the last I've heard about Lazcano.

LAZCANO ANGRY -- Lightweight Juan Lazcano was to have been on Saturday's pay-per-view card in his native El Paso, Texas. But Golden Boy Promotions, which promoted the card, put out a news release last week stating Lazcano was out for personal reasons.

Lazcano alleged Golden Boy chief executive Richard Schaefer and consultant Don Chargin reneged on promises to begin Lazcano's comeback from a June 5 loss to WBC champion Jose Luis Castillo. Lazcano said the group agreed it would be best to begin slowly against low-level opponents.

He said he was upset when he discovered he was put onto the pay-per-view card, which featured Marco Antonio Barrera.

"We agreed as a team, and it's very important to have everyone on the same page, that I would start slowly on (Spanish-language) Telefutura and we would work our way up," Lazcano said.

But Schaefer said he was going to match Lazcano with an opponent who is ranked No. 244 in the world.

Lazcano was stopped by El Paso police Thursday, minutes after leaving the hotel where Golden Boy executives, including Chargin, Schaefer and owner Oscar De La Hoya were staying. Lazcano said he went to the hotel to speak to De La Hoya and was told he was not in. Lazcano said he left and was pulled over by the police "for no reason."

But Schaefer said Lazcano had made two death threats against Chargin, one to Schaefer and the other to Golden Boy matchmaker Eric Gomez. Because the threats were made in California, the Texas authorities had no jurisdiction, but Schaefer said he wanted to protect Chargin.

"He made death threats on two occasions and because of what we felt was erratic behavior, we felt it was important to alert the police," Schaefer said.

Lazcano vehemently denied making threats and said he wanted to fight De La Hoya. However, Lazcano weighed 135 for his last bout, and De La Hoya weighed 160 for his.

"He's just a little guy who's blown up," Lazcano said. "I'm 140 now and he says he's fighting at 147, so I could move up and we could do big business."

Schaefer said he hopes the relationship can be repaired.
