Why is Pavlik fighting a former welterweight?

and the current JR Middleweight champ of the world? This does not sit too well with me. Martinez has only fought at middleweight once against another former welterweight. I know HBO wants this because there were no other big name fights available for the 2 but it just does not sit well with me.

Because Sturm was too much of a ***** to get in the ring against Pavlik. Martinez has those big balls, something Sturm doesn't have.

Alot of guys are former welterweights. its called gettin older and going up in weight. Also, this guy is arguably the best challenge at MW. What would sit better with you, Koren Gevor, David Lopez? Or maybe Sturm who refuses to fight outside of Germany?

Sturm has said numerous times that he wants to come to America and fight Pavlik. Just wait till he gets the promotional issues fixed.

That is not Sturm, that is Universum.

Martinez showed he can be good at 160 in his last fight. This argument holds no water.

Yea I know that there were no other big name fights at 154 and 160 for them. But this fight is a product of that? The thing that I look at is that Pavlik is clearly the bigger/stronger guy, he will stop Martinez, then get credit for beating the JR middleweight champion of the world, all because there were no "better" fights for you so called hard core boxing fans that just watch HBO and SHO.

Pavlik used to fight at 154 lbs. at the beg. of his career. So Pavlik is basically one weight division above Martinez.
