Those were glory days! I was in Cinn. Ohio in a sportatorium with friends and about 5000 fans going crazy! ALL were standing, it was bedlium, I remember hollaring to the top of my lungs and could not hear myself. The lady next to me flopped down in a heap when Hearns was getting the chop.

All those guys fought. Lots of trash talk but when they got in the ring they fought, they didn't take time to shoulder roll **** and run **** but flat out fought. Both of these men would destroy the Mayweather of today. The Mayweathers of that era weren't ****. I used to watch the Black Mamba, I watched him hit the canvas like you shot him in the head with a cannon by Rocky Lockridge and by Chavez, and he quit in the second fight. Sugar Ray made Mayweather sr. looked like swiss cheese.

I try to get excited about today. ITs hard to get there when I think of the old days. The top fighters are fighter themselves but then there is one who has all the skills but has no balls. I don't understand why he don't have the balls. Hearns Hagler Leonard Duran Benitiez sp and others had the BALLS, the skills, they weren't afraid to both fight and use their skills.

Because Jr. talks and fights small and old guys not wanting knots on his bald head but WANTS ALL THE MONEY, is what makes fightfans hate the guy. He is a mockery to the purist. He only satisfies those who don't know better, he is the best they have ever seen. Where were you when Hagler fought Hearns?

I can get past the vile putrid trash talk of Jr. if only he will come out and fight Mosley.

I generalby watch a fight several times especially the great one, even the good ones, but the fight between Jr and DLH made me sick to watch and I tried to watch it the second time and just deleted it. I have tried to go back but only get so far and shut it off. Pretty boy is just that, pretty boy stuff won't stack up with real men fighting.

The pretty boy today would have been massecred by the guys of yesterday and there wouldn't be any hoopla going on.

Where are the Fighters?

The best fight today is Pacman vs Mosley

Prove me wrong Pretty Boy Jr Mayweather, please go out there and prove all the old guys wrong.

boxing fan/purist dont hate floyd. YOU do. if you cant appreciate a defenseive fighter as well as an offensive fighter, your no boxing purist. you only want to see rocky balboa type fights. i on the other hand love to see the chess type of match where you wonder whos going to reach down and pull off the victory. i enjoy the knock outs as well. but i love to see real boxing matches. i enjoy complete fighters and no hopers with a ton of heart. the fight game has room for all types not just face first fighters. IMO

I remember that fight like it was yesterday. Props to the two warriors who gave us such a memorable event.

every time i watch that fight i cant believe that was the first round. there was no boxing in that round. that was two pros that didnt like each other out there fighting. but, at the end of the fight they gave each other props and ended it like gentlemen. "i tried to ko him, but his head was so hard". i wish there was a second fight.

There would have been, but Leonard stopped it from happening by coming out of retirement. For boxing fans of the time, the prospect of Leonard and Hagler sharing the same ring was a dream that had appeared long dead and with just a few sentences at a D.C. television station it was turned into an appetizing reality. Hagler was so destructive against Hearns that most people thought their dispute was settled, so the next dream fight was made.

Watched this fight when I was young with my grandfather and uncles. At that age didn't understand that much about boxing but the entertainment of a "fight" has stayed with me till now.
