Why is Floyd Mayweather ranked as a Welterweight?

As far as is documented he last fought a welterweight on November 4, 2006

    According timeanddate.com that's 1260 days or 3 years, 5 months, 13 days

You do know WW is a weight class right?

He fought JMM at WW. He retired Number 1 at WW so the ring felt he looked good enough to get back in the rankings.
