Is Floyds power at the higher weights underrated?

I see alot of the feather fist stuff. But when I watch his fights I dont see that at all.

Floyds shots are so fast and accurate that most of the time they dont see them then he puts a little something behind them as well.

At 147 against Judah he landed some of the nastiest and hardest body shots I ever seen him throw.

At 147 vs. Hatton. I think it was the 8th round (correct me if Im wrong). But He threw a shot to Hattons stomach made Hatton crouch down then blasted him in the forhead and Hatton was hurt.

He also hurt him to the body once then ofcourse the shots that ended the fight.

Against Oscar he was nailing him with hard power shots and even buckled his legs. Mind you Oscar was 160 Pounds or more.

After the fight Oscar said he had no idea how strong Floyd was and that he has deceptive power.

Now with Shane. A guy who Floyd will catch whenever he feels like it. And he punches with his eyes closed on top of that. I see Floyd dropping him a few times.

Floyd will at no point drop or remotely hurt Shane.

Here's the thing with Floyd at the higher weights. He HAS the power to knock guys out. But he knows he's fighting bigger guys and he fights WAY more cautiously. He hardly ever really puts combos together anymore, and if he does they aren't more than 2 punches, because he wants to get out of the way.

Floyd has the power to knock out Welterweights, he just doesn't fight the kind of way needed to score a KO.

Yeah Im not saying Floyd will maul him. I just think he will find Shane so easy to hit that he wont be able to help himself. Him dropping Shane isnt far fetched. Its boxing. The right counter shot can put you on your ass. Ask Abraham. Shane will be off balance alot vs. Floyd when he throws those hooks.

Looking back since about 2003, he's had 4 KO's in his last 10 fights. Two of those KO's were at WW against Sharmba Mitchell and Ricky Hatton. I believe he has genuine power, but nothing like he had in the lighter weights. Plus, you have to take into account the level of opposition and how well THEY could take a punch. He landed several times on Marquez, but wasn't able to take him out. Whether that was his choosing is up for debate, but he landed very flush several times and only managed to drop Marquez on a flash knockdown, Marquez never seemed to be hurt in the fight more than being completely outclassed.

It's easier to measure his power when the results are more obvious (i.e a KO), but one really can only assume at this point.

Fair enough/ On Marquez honestly I think he was banking rounds. When you watch the fight you get the feeling that Floyd could take him out whenever he felt like it. Marquez really had no answers for nothing Floyd was doing. Then you have the ring rust as well so we'll see.

I don't see it happening. I agree that he'll hit Shane almost at will, but to be honest, since the Forrest fight, I haven't even seen Shane stumble from a punch that caught him off balance.

You're right that the right punch combined with a balance issue can knock anyone down, but I don't think it will happen.

What will happen is that Shane will look every day of that 38 or 37 years old and will lose a lopsided decision.

Floyd has power. But, it's more of a speed + accuracy type of power.

He hits you right on the sweet spot, and a lot of the time when you don't see or know when it's coming.

It's not prime Tito type of power.

                    But he has pop.
