I love this fight as I really can't pick a winner with confidence. But gun to my head I'm gonna go for Martinez. He's not a bad offensive boxer so he'll surely be hitting Pavlik at will all night long, and I can see his lateral movement keeping the straight moving Pavlik at bay for the majority of the fight. I just don't think Pavlik will be able to swarm him quite as effectively as Williams did - and Williams only barely walked away with a win. Although I may be underestimating the difference in power between Williams and Pavlik in my predictions for this fight.

stylistically pavlik wouldve been better off fighting williams. He made a big mistake choosing a slick fighter especially one like martinez who will punish him bad.

I am totally on the fence for this one. I can't remember the last time I genuinely could not pick a winner, due to so many variables. I like both guys a lot, but would prefer Pavlik to win. A part of me thinks Pavlik could shock everyone with a KO, but a bigger part of me says Martinez will embarrass him to a UD. Or, it could be another all-out war with razor-thin scorecards like Williams-Martinez (at least, everyone with a brain had it close).

Either way, the MW division will benefit greatly from this fight.

I think that too, style wise. Paul Williams would be easier of Pavlik to deal with then Martinez.

Martinez will hit Pavlik from angles he's never been hit from before and be stunned in the latter rounds la Williams. He's one dimentional and will be exposed just like Old Hopkins did, Martinez by UD..

Martinez by UD. I expect him to pull out to an early lead and hold off Pavlik towards the end of the fight to win a close decision.

I know a lot of people look at the Hopkins fight at 170. But, I like to look more at the Taylor rematch at 166. Granted Pavlik is better at 160 than at 166. But, I look at how Taylor did a better job in staying off the ropes, keeping the fight in the middle of the ring. JT won a handful of rounds and this was a Pavlik who had all the confidence in the World. But, JT having the fight in the middle of the ring gave Pavlik trouble in the rematch. It was a very close fight.

I also look at Pavlik best KO wins against Zertuche, Zuniga, Miranda, and Taylor. All those KO's happen on the ropes. Look at the first JT fight. This was at 160 now, when JT was in the middle of the ring he dropped Pavlik, hurt him, had on ***** street, out on his feet. JT downfall was getting caught up on the ropes.

Martinez has to stay off the ropes and I think he will. I think he will keep the fight in the middle of the ring, he will not let Pavlik get set. For Kelly pavlik to land he needs to be set, Martinez would not allow that, he will turn him, he will use movement, his in and out ability and quick hands and foot will give Pavlik hell.

And then you add that I think Pavlik is not the same fighter after Hopkins I don't see how Pavlik can win this fight. Unless Martinez bad luck continues and does not get the benefit of the doubt on the cards...
Taylor won that 2nd fight in my eyes.
