He will need to fight a couple of decent fighters to prove he's capable of fighting for another title. I still maintain that he's the most dangerous fighter out there for Wladimir. He can only be dangerous if he gets the shot and comes in better condition than he has done in recent years, though.
It's worth keeping an eye on anyway.

I have a lot of respect for Shannon Briggs.
His fight against Lewis should be shown to all the overmatched misfits that plod along infront of the Klits and are gun-shy from the get-go.
Shannon Briggs showed what you should do when overmatched for a world-title challenge as he was against Lennox Lewis and that is have a real crack at it. The man went to war. He shook Lennox up a few times and maybe if the boxing gods were on his side he would have landed the bingo punch.
I'd trust a 38-year-old Briggs to give the Klitschko's far more problems than pretty much everyone the Klitschko's have faced recently, maybe barring big fat Cristobal who was certainly game. Briggs would throw bingo punches, he wouldn't get his **** jabbed in like Hasim Rahman.

Just don't show them his belt-losing fight against SULTAN IBRAGIMOV.
Everyone is scared of Wlad and Vitali for a very good reason: they are very big, very strong and they hit very hard. Period.
Briggs, like James Toney and a host of other big-mouthed has-beens out there, all want to get beat up by the Klitschkos for one reason and one reason only: they need the money. They don't care about winning, because they know that won't happen.Last edited by ChopperRead; 04-14-2010, 07:14 PM.

I said I would trust him to at least go balls out and get knocked the f.uck out in good grace in the hope that he could've landed something big. Which is what overmatched contenders should ultimately be doing - not getting there faces jabbed in like pacifists.
Unlike most of the American challengers to the Klits that seem to leave their hearts on the plane, Shannon would show up with his in his chest beating and ready to go. This regardless of whether he just beat a complete bum or a fookin' window cleaner.
His fight against Sultan was disappointing though, I can't argue that case. Only that Sultan was a pretty uninspiring guy himself.

Briggs would still be a big underdog, even if he did actually train hard and come in at 250lbs. But a man of that size, who has that sort of power, can never be ruled out
