Comments Thread For: Ali Funeka's Manager Responds To Post-Fight Test Result

Butityi Konki, the manager for lightweight Ali Funeka, has issued a response to the recent news that his fighter failed the post-fight drug test for last month's rematch with Joan Guzman. Funeka tested positive for hydrochlorothiazide, a diuretic on the Nevada State Athletic Commission’s banned substance list. Diuretics are often used by fighters to cut weight. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. tested postive for a diuretic last year. The NSAC suspended him for for several months. Funeka faces a fine and suspension when the NSAC meets on Friday. Funeka seems like an honest guy. He's been cheated enough, his opponents fail to make weight and he was robbed twice.

oh well the guy is a basic fighter.. if he really wanted it he would press the fight in the championship rounds. instead hes like tommy hearns.. once he got hit in the chin he goes down.. the guy cant take a punch. nd plenty of guys at 140 will exploit that.. desperetly for a title at lightweight they are.. his manager was asked who do u want next they said rolando reyes?? lmao guy already backed out nd they still trying to force it. cuz they kno they cant compete on the world class level with guys his own size. yet hes lost to guys 5'7

your right.. the real deal was in his mind funeka really thought he could beat guzman.. hes obviously ****** enough not to notice that.. he actually thought he beat guzman in a fair fight.. he was way taller nd the cut ****ed him over. then rematch his dumbass think he gon come in thier wit his reach nd his predictable jab nd guzman knew this. he did not change it up.. nada was changed.. guzman made the right adjustments. so since they both broke the rules i give credit to guzman.. cuz if funeka were to be weak it was his own fault..no wonder guzman even felt his punches even weaker.

Let's give him the benefit of the doubt and say they didn't know. It's still the responsibility of him and his team to know what is and is not on the banned substance list. Ignorance is not a excuse he deserve to be punish like any boxer would be for using this diuretic.

Funeka manager said he took the drug to lose water on the flight to vegas he fail to know that type of drug is out your system in 20 hour after use and he came into Vegas march 18.......to me he was taking enhancement drug and was trying to flush it out because this guy has been training since December for Rolando Reyes how in the world you cant make weight in 3 month and you just fought in the 135lb limit month earlier and did you notice that another fighter that is part of that management team was caught with enhancement drug source''SA newspaper google funeka doping'' and was ban for a year.
