If Bernard Hopkins refuses to retire..what's next?

If Bernard Hopkins refuses to retire there are less than a handful of options for him at this point of his career. He refuses to acknowledge that he's no longer(and hasn't been for quite sometime) a fighter worthy of a $50 PPV price tag.

So where does the Executioner go from here? Feel free to speculate!

I think it's fair to say that he won't get a shot at Haye, no matter how much he screams and cries for it. I also think it's fair to say a prime Haye dominates or seriously hurts a much weaker Hopkins.

The only thing, other than retirement, that I could possibly see for Hopkins is another fight against Glen Johnson on a regular HBO WCB card if Johnson fights and beats Cloud.

    Thoughts...

I think he said he wants to fight Bute at 170 or something like that.

He said he wants to fight Bute in Canada so we'll see what happens with that.

Chad Dawson is unlikely even if hopkins did want to fight him Dawson has a fight in August so a potential hopkins-dawson showdown wouldn't occur till the very end of 2010 or early 2011 and it's unlikely hopkins wants to wait that long.

Other than that there aren't too many attractive options.

Also, 2 of his last 4 fights were not PPV, so it's not like he is only looking for a PPV fight, if the money is right he'll take it on HBO.

Yes. It would be a decent fight, but I cant understand why he just doesnt setp up and fight Dawson. The excuse bhop used in not facing dawson was cos cahd isnt a household name n he sells no tickets. Well chad dawson is bigger name in boxing than Bute, plus dawson is a genuine LH, whereas bute isnt.

Chad Dawson. I would actually pay 50 bucks for the PPV but dude(BHop) don't want to risk anything.

well the thing is hopkins said he would fight bute in canada and in canada bute is a huge name compared to dawson. Dawson's last three fights combined sold less than 5,000 tickets. Bute sells out against bums.

Hopkins would most likely end up selling the same if he was headlining against anyone. How many showed up to the Ornelas fight??

hopkins would also have to wait till like 2011 for that fight so if I were him I'd take bute now (if bute accepts & beats miranda of course).

hell if I know, it was a charity event.

I'm not arguing hopkins is big a selling name himself at this point, but he's clearly looking for paydays and there are a lot of guys who would love to have Hopkins name on their resumes.
