Do we underestimate Margarito's skill?

boxing fans have been brainwashed into believing that the only skilled boxers are the one's that box on the outside.

They see a guy like Margarito,who continually comes forward,isn't afraid to take a punch and works almost exclusively on the inside and they see a crude brawler with very little skill.


Margarito is simply one of the greatest pressure fighters of his era.He does everything a pressure fighter should do.The only thing that he lacks is head movement.He isn't anywhere near as slow as he is usually portrayed.




Margarito is a more skilled boxer than Paul Williams is.

His record speaks for itself. He turned pro and 15 fighting grown men and went on to become a world champion making numerous defences. He is very underrated, im not saying hes the most skillful but you dont have to be. He is great at what he does best and is a relentless warrior in the ring who never ducks anybody and never gives up. I truly hope he gets his belt back VIVA ANTONIO MARGARITO!!!

but srsly, margs was good at what he did. but he def wasnt nything special. the guy has one talent. throwing punches, he threw puches until he won, he didnt throw them with any skill, he wasnt fast and he wasnt powerful. he made it to the top as a limited fighter, ill give him that.

but, pls, ppl, pls stop acting like margs was a special fighter. the 2 special fighter he did fight exposed him.

He has very good footwork, an underrated jab and right hand, knows how to parry and turn w/ punches better than anyone I can think of and knows how to set up power shots.


You don't become 3 time WW champion and stay in the top 5 WW rankings for a decade without any skill.

. He has a good chin and that's a bout it. With bricks in your gloves you could be champion. For his physical attributes and his style of fighting, he's nothing more than a good sparring partner. NO knock out power, foot work is mediocre, slow as hell, with no ring generalship. Just walk foward and punch?? Not gonna fly. i mean compared to 99.9% of boxers out there Marg is slick as anything....

but at the top level, he is not that skilled either in defence or attack. At least Hatton had some nice feints and the wrestling skill, and even Gatti could get on his toes against c class fighters....
