Tszyu camp denies trainer firing!

The camp of former IBF 140lb champion Kostya Tszyu, who returns to Australia today, has dismissed an international media report claiming the fighter had sacked his trainer Johnny Lewis. Tszyu lost his IBF light welterweight crown to Englishman Ricky Hatton in Manchester over the weekend when he was unable to continue after the 11th round. It was Lewis who decided Tszyu was unable to fight on after asking the boxer in his corner whether he was okay. A report in Russia claimed Tszyu's manager Matt Watt had said the Sydney boxer decided to dump Lewis for stopping the contest. However, Team Tszyu publicist Kristy Doyle, who arrived home on Tuesday morning, said she had spoken to Watt this evening while in transit in ****kok. "It's completely 150 per cent untrue," Doyle said of the report. "I spoke with Matt and Kostya was sitting right beside him, so I was hearing him talk as well." (More)
