Athletes are willing to go through great lengths to cheat by using EPO and blood-doping for that little bit of extra red-blood cells because of the enhanced stamina from the increased oxygen-carring capacity. So don't you think losing those little bit of red blood cells would have an adverse effect on stamina and oxygen-carrying capacity?
