    Tszyu fires Lewis as trainer

Russian-born boxer Kostya Tszyu has fired his trainer Johnny Lewis after losing his IBF light-welterweight crown to Britain's Ricky Hatton.

Tszyu, 35, who has held a version of the light-welterweight title for 10 years, suffered a shock defeat to Hatton after failing to answer the bell for the 12th and final round in their championship bout in Manchester on Sunday.

Tszyu's manager Matt Watt said the Sydney-based boxer had made a decision to ditch Lewis for stopping the fight.

"Kostya wanted to continue but Lewis felt that he was losing the fight," Tszyu's promoter Vlad Warton was quoted as saying by Sovietsky Sport newspaper.

"It wasn't Kostya's decision to end the fight. He would have never stopped his own fight."

Tszyu and Lewis have been together since 1992 after the boxer moved from Russia to Australia.

    Big shock to me.

Thats bull****, he was only thinking of his safety.

The only reason i can think of is Tszyu's agreed to break up with his coach to avoid bad media, so it looks like Tszyu did really want to continue. It would make sense because Tszyu would only be returning for a couple of fights, they will proabably get back together too.

The problem is Tszyu's already said on live TV that he agreed with Lewis's decision to pull him out.

That true!... Oh well, this will give all the non-Hatton believer's more ammunition to try and fire Hatton down after his tremendous victory.

If Tszyu & Hatton have a rematch, his trainer's actions may well have given Tszyu a chance next time. Imagine if Tszyu got stopped badly in round 12, it would have taken far more out of him. Ironic to sack the trainer after that??

              Thats complete rubbish.

Amid the specualtion on Australion talk back radio 1 hour ago Tzu was contacted in Ban Kok (if thats how you spell it) whilst stopping over for his return to Sydney.

Tzu dismissed the claims as rubbish and said he and his wife Natasha would be shorlty holidaying in New Zealand where he will decide his future in boxing.

Tszyu is a ****ing liar anyhow. We all saw him on HBO or Sky or whatever you watched. TSZYU initiated the quitting. Why else would his corner be saying "You can't do this" or something very similar. Cause I knew right then he was quitting b/c it reminded me exactly of Golota vs. Tyson.

But hey maybe this means he wants to continue fighting, which is what I want, so Judah can beat the hell out of him.
