Leonard Vs. Duran I [scorecard] [Video link]

Just re watched the fight, first time I seen it I didn't score it. I hear a lot of people talk about how Duran beat Leonard's ass but this is how I seen the fight.

Would love to hear how other boxing fans had it scored.

    Cheers.

About to watch the second fight.

Hmmmm, I didn't see it a draw. I saw Duran winning it by 2-3 points. He was more aggressive and landed stiffer shots on Leonard which doesn't equate into total scorecard count. Leonard is my all time favorite, but he did lose this fight.

But he more than redeemed himself in the rematch.

Duran was more aggressive but I also saw Leonard show some incredible heart and throwing some great counter punches that the announcers either missed or gave credit to Duran saying " That didn't faze Duran".

You have to remember it was a split decision, some rounds were close but I had no bias scoring the fight, if anyone has time I would like to hear the scorecards and maybe we can compare notes.

The 13th round was the swing round for myself, I had Duran winning most of the round but I thought Leonard did enough to get an even round for his late finish.

Regardless this is an all time classic fight, I think fans owe it to themselves to watch it. That's why I put the link up.

        Round 8: Leonard
        Round 9: Duran
        Round 10: Duran
        Round 11: Leonard
        Round 12: Leonard
        Round 13: Duran
        Round 14: Leonard
        Round 15: Leonard

        Duran Decision 143-142

Some rounds were hard to score, and it could have gone either way depending what style you favoured. Duran's aggression made it look like he did much more, but Leonard had better accuracy. Very close fight, but i had Duran edge it.

I'll never watch the second fight again. It's been years since i last saw it. Seeing my favourite boxer, one of the most tenacious, most frightening men to have stepped into a ring just quit like that as he wasn't getting his way with Sugar, does not make for pleasurable viewing.
