Vitali got up and beat a prime Sanders who was active, in good shape, and young. Sanders was a near ATG as evidenced by his fights with Nate Tubbs & Hasim Rahman. He was not like a heavyweight Zab Judah, as Sanders had terrific stamina (did you see his energy level in the second round?) and took the sport very seriously.

That is the third best victory of Vitali's career, behind his wins over Chris Byrd (it doesn't count as a loss if you quit on your stool as long as you're ahead on points) and Lennox Lewis (it doesn't count as a loss if your face looks like a used maxi pad as long as you're ahead on points halfway through the fight when the racist doctor does not allow you to go on).

Is there a rule against being saved by the bell? It kept Clay/Ali unbeaten for many years. Sanders had his chance and missed it.

Sanders sort of pushed him down with his right glove, plus I think their feet got tangled.
