You gotta think, how much did being caught rattle Margarito before the Mosely fight.

What version of Margarito was Shane fighting? I imagine Marg was probably ****ting bricks after being caught, probably had lost all concentration and ideas of a gameplan before he'd reached the ring. Same goes for his trainer and team.

Looking back over Shane's recent resume, there is nothing which suggests he even has a chance in this fight. I know they say styles make fights and all, but jeez. I say Mosely's win over Margarito is decieving, and Floyd takes this fight easily on points.

His mind wasn't there. Focused, the dude is THE toughest welterweight out there.

If he can come back clean, and his chin isn't shot to ****, he can still cause trouble for everyone in that division. I don't know if someone can recover from the shots Mosley was hitting him with..

I think Margarito new he was in deep sht going into the fight somehow. I think that's why he hardened his wraps. Been some time since I have seen that fight. Just remember Mosley beating the living sht right out of him. One of the more one sided beatings I have seen in a while.

Cotto put quite a beating on him too, people tend to forget that...

I suspected that his chin may have been a little bit cracked after that war, and that Mosley pummeling was surely the final nail in the coffin. I'm sure Margarito is still very good but I think his days as the most fearsome welter in the world are over.

I'm starting to think this should be called the Cotto effect.

Margs beat him, but was pummeled after.

Pac beat him, but even with the 13 punches Clottey landed on him all fight his face seemed to show much more damage than normal, for being hit so little.

I'm not 100% sure, but the moment Pac gets in there with an accurate puncher with above average power he might be in trouble if he gets leather on him. (Mosley, Mayweather, even Margs)... If Cotto did damage, those two may have enough in them to stop him.

And as for the OP's question, he was probably ****ting himself before and after the fight, but when you are stuck in a ring with a man who's doing his utmost to beat the **** out of you, it generally rises to the top of your 'things to focus on' priority list. He may have been a bit rattled and subdued but I wouldn't place too much emphasis on it--a couple clean blows to the head probably pushed it to the back of his mind.

Rather he just had no answer to being pushed back and man handled by someone as powerful as Shane.

Cotto is heavy handed for definate. His stance really allows him to put his bodyweight into his punches too.

Pacquiao did eat some straight rights and uppercuts against Clottey and took them well to be fair though. If he picked up any wear and tear against Miguel then it wasn't enough to have a direct effect; might end up being more a cumulative thing (if he ever finds himself ring worn, that is).
