Berto is a ******/dumb fighter. He can't fight smart and relies only on his speed and explosiveness. Although he has two wins over T. Bradley and A. Dirrell from the amateurs, he hasn't evolved as much as them. Seems to me that Berto is stuck and can't improve as much.

He was not impressive against Quintana who I regard as a C-level fighter at the time Berto fought him. Berto is B-level at best. He got hit too many times and lucky for him that Quintana doesn't hit hard. He will get smothered IF Dibella chooses to find better opposition for his (somewhat protected) fighter.

At least he admitted that he was rusty...I just don't think he's that good at all.

He doesn't have much of a boxing IQ and is getting by skilled boxers with less ability right now on natural talent which in truth he has in abundance.

Evander Holyfield in his first reign as HW champ is an example of someone who kept losing stock with each victory.

Berto's got some abilities, he's got good handspeed and a nice uppercut, but is too sloppy. Questions remain about his punch resistance, and as said before, he relies too much on his athleticism. He must improve a lot to compete with the three big names at WW. Mosley would've stopped him if they had fought IMO, even if the tragedy had not occurred and Berto was mentally there.

--He hugged and clinched JWW Juan Urango more in 12 rounds then Juans wife had in 15 years of marriage.

--He complains about legal punches, puts on acting debut and again clinches and holds at everychance against Carlos Quintana.

I hope Miguel Cotto or Shane Mosley fight him soon and take his 0 and belt because he doesnt deserve the WBC strap he holds. Plus most of his defenses have been against JWW's which is embarrassing for a man who started his career at 160.

              He looked awful.

The only reason he won that fight was because Quintana was a B+ fighter on his best night, but he's contender level at best in the ranks these days. He looked weak, slow, and with no stamina.

The hugging from the younger, stronger Berto tired his ass out. He can't, and won't win against any of the elites in the division. He was holding his arm at times to punch probably out of frustration. I'm sure no fighter likes to be smothered every 10 secs.

              Mosley
              Mayweather
              Clottey (yes Clottey)
              Pac
Cotto (if he ever fights there again and Steward brings some shine back)

I'd put a few bucks on Alfonso Gomez giving him a rough night now, that's a guy that has shown me improvement on every fight.

What a horrid style to watch.

I agree 100% Berto is a good fighter with some attributes but he doesn't have the polish he needs to be on the next level. His chin is questionable at the very least (hurt by Collazo and Quintana) not very hard punchers. He gasses in fights (Forbes and Urango) Also up until this Saturday he has not been able to KO his opponents with decent chins. His hand speed is excellent and he has decnt power in hin right hand but his punch accuracy is not that good and he leaves himself open for counters. If he fought a counter puncher with really good timing or someone with comparable speed (Marquez, Mayweather, Mosley, Pacquiao,) or just a big tough customer like (Clottey, Margarito, Cintron) he would be in lots of trouble. Just my take on this one....Lefty
