Choosing to step out of a unification contest with WBA Welterweight titlist Shane Mosley in January to focus attention on the aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti, 26-year old ethnic Haitian Andre Berto (26-0, 20 KO) of Winterhaven, Florida returned to the ring for the first time since May 2009, successfully defending his WBC belt for the fourth time with an eighth round stoppage of 33-year old former WBO Welterweight titlist Carlos Quintana (27-3, 21 KO) on Saturday night at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida. Caballero has always impressed Me & I see a very good fight against Gamboa.....Berto on the other hand has never impressed Me & tonight was no exception...I gave Quintana the benefit of the doubt, I was wrong...But I don't see Berto beating Clottey, Cotto, Mosley, Mayweather, Pacquiao, Collazo(who I thought beat Berto but was robbed) or Judah.... -

I dont know. But from what i see today, Berto can pull a win from the A fighters. He should just have get that chance.
On the other hand Caballero is on top of his game. Hope to see him against JuanMa, Gamboa and other top contenders.Comment

I thought Quintana did pretty well the first couple of rounds but once the clinching began it was berros fight. Quintana neede to box from the outside and move, once he staid on the ropes he was a sitting duck. Ahilé berro got the tko he still fails to impresse me and i believe he has no buissiness inthe ring with the top WW, that includes the current versión of Cotto.Comment

i agree i was impressed by both andre berto and caballero. they were both in with good opponents and they did what they were suppose too. carlos quintana is a tricky, cagey, smart fighter but berto is just so strong and fast it was too much fo him. and caballero is real good too i never knew he was that skilled. but great job for both of them.Comment

Couldn't disagree with you more. I know Arum is scared to put that puertorican ***** against Caballero. Caballero would knock the **** out of Juanma and potentially end his young career. I give Gamboa a chance against him based on his athletic ability but still think it will be a very difficult fight for a much shorter guy. I think Juanma is the weak link among the top guys like Caballero, Gamboa, John, Marquez, Vazquez. I already see a lot of flaws in his game and the fact that he barely survived against an average journeyman who gamboa demolished proves that he is not that great. Arum will protect him as long as he can but he should just focus on Gamboa who is the much better fighter.Comment

I thought Quintanna was beating Berto and I thought Berto was acting like a little *****. He looked like he was the best student in the Bernard Hopkins acting academy. Quintanna should have received credit for a knockdown in the first round and I didn't think he should have had a point deducted from him when he did. Berto was complaining about hits behind the head that were never happening. Berto is going to get KTFO when he fights anyone with power. He went down against Collazo and Quintanna. I thought he ****** last night.Comment
