Comments Thread For: Jason Gavern Shocks Manny Quezada, Wins Decision

Manny Quezada (29-5-1, 18KOs) was screaming for the big names and the big fights, but he overlooked Jason Gavern (19-7-3, 8KOs), who stunned his 18-fight win streak by winning a ten round split decision at the Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino in Lemoore, California. According to ringside reports, Quezada was simply outworked and outhustled. Gavern even dropped Quezada in the sixth round, but the ref waved it off as a slip. The final scores saw 95-94, 95-94 for Gavern and 95-94 for Quezada. [Click Here To Read More]

I will always remember Gavern as a clown in fight against Boytsov - the funniest boxing fight ever ;-) Now he is back in boxrec's top 100.

And don't undersestimate this guy. He was Valuev's sparring partner.

I had sparred with Gavern a couple times before this fight. He is a super cool guy and extremely humble. He won the fight and has potential. He is not that heavy handed but has a good jab and real good footwork. Spoke to a couple people at the fight and he won hands down even with a BS point deduction for a headbutt.
