hatton was coming off a massive win against castillo in the may fight, this hyped us up into beleiving he could do it. The pacman fight Ricky had come off a poor performance against lazcano and then a boring fight against paulie.
Funny how in retrospect the Malignaggi win is far more impressive than the Castillo KO.
and I think I remember 500k? Higher than 300k anyway.
And to answer OP's question,
- Mayweather sold the fight more than Pacquiao did
- Hatton was unbeaten at the time so the bandwagon was a little more crowded
- It was a typical goodie v baddie character clash
- Britain v U.S.A. rivalry
- Mayweather's a bigger name than Pacman over here (note: I only say this based on my own experiences)
