What are your thoughts? I thought this new episode was a little dry.
Abraham exuded confidence before the fight, same couldn't have been said of Dirrell. But like Sauerland said "This is boxing, anything can happen." And it did.
I also liked the comment made by one of the ladies on Dirrell's side, "This better not turn into some Jermain Taylor ****." (or something along those lines). In my honest opinion, it was leading down that road. I wouldn't be surprised by a late KO, in fact I was expecting it from the beginning. But this is beating a dead horse.
It was nice to get a spectator perspective after the DQ. Everyone on Dirrell's side looked like they wanted Abraham's heart. Abraham did seem shocked later in the locker-room. The man lost for the first time. I believe this loss will only make him stronger. No more turtle defense for the first six rounds.
As for Dirrell, I didn't see any indication that he was faking. He did seem fine only a few hours later, but oh well.
Judging by the boardroom talk after the fight, I think these two meeting again later in the tournament is a possibility, and much will be done to help do that. This is, after all, about money, and a rematch will be very profitable in my opinion. I just hope it doesn't mean fixing fights or otherwise pulling some strings in the background to make this fight happen in stage two.
Kessler's a really likable guy, I'm gonna be rooting for him against Froch.
