Did any of you even watch the Martinez vs Williams fight? Martinez keeps his hands down all the time and does tend to move around, but he's not an all defense fighter, he likes to trade. Williams was getting hit because unlike Pavlik, Williams doesn't use his reach to his advantage. Pavlik knows how to stay in front of you and ware you down. Also taking into consideration that Kelly is a full fledged Middleweight, those punches he's going to be landing are going to be much harder than what Martinez felt from Williams.
I see Martinez having his moments, but Pavlik trapping him and landing bombs throughout the fight until it's stopped.Comment

rav, what do you thyink about pav/williams? i think pavlik destroys williams easilyComment

I know you asked this question for Rav, but I have to say that Williams is overrated on this forum to the highest degree. Pavlik would run right through Williams cause the dude has no defense and I know that Pavlik could take anything that Williams would try to dish out. I'm not even the biggest Pavlik fan but I call like I see it.Comment

I think Pav beats him too. Williams leaves himself open because he doesn't use his reach to his advantage, he lunges in with his head out in the open. Look how Pavlik throws, straight up, guard up, has a stiff jab that does damage (because he uses his reach) and he's simply got more power at that weight. I think it'll be a fun fight to watch, but I truly see Pavlik possibly stopping Williams late. Williams has heart, but Pavlik does as well and he's also a finisher.
I hope it happens.Comment

Agree completely. Just cos Bernard Hopkins can do it, doesn't mean Sergio Martinez can. I think Martinez will start better but as he slows down, Pavlik will start getting the better of it from round 4 or 5 onwards.Comment

Not everyone is bernard hopkins. Martinez has that slicksters style but gets hit alot for someone with that style much like zab judah. I notice he takes rounds off too, meaning he has stamina problems. Against a aggresive puncher like pavlik that death. I can't imagine him staying vertical when pavlik touches that chin on more than one ocassion.Comment

have you seen what Martinez looked like back then, he looked like he was 12 years old. He's matured and become a full grown junior middleweight. That being said Sergio's going to have to fight a brilliant fight in order to win. But he could present Pavlik with an array of problems first he's a southpaw second he has great foot movement and unless Pavlik took Hopkins advice he could be in for a rough night. Pavlik has no rhythmComment
