It would be a pretty close fight. Both fighters are extremely intelligent fighters. Mayweather would look to get that straight right in, the punch Whitaker was most vulnerable (I use this term very loosely as we're talking about Whitaker here) to. Mayweather also is taller and rangier. Whitaker had the superior jab. I think you'd see some adjustments throughout the fight, as both guys are able to excel in different ranges and styles. Whitaker could box behind the jab and use the ring a lot, but also had his own rough tactics up close. Mayweather would respond with his own rough tactics, the elbows and forearms up close.

Ultimately I think Whitaker's workrate would be the difference. He threw considerably more leather than Mayweather, and would win a close decision.

What's up with some of the posters saying Whitaker would win? Floyd is the King of Fantasy Match-up. Nobody beats him in his weightclass from Light to Welter.
