  • is hopkins' back against the wall?

haye don't wanna fight him. schaefer wants him to retire. most boxing fans are calling for him to retire. HBO is trying to get him to fight Dawson. The bridge with Adamek is burned. Crold's dropped him from the p4p list.

It seems like his back is against the wall and there is no real options for Hopkins. Will Hopkins be forced to fight Dawson if he plans to continue his career?

The **** up thing is, hopkins is a stubborn bastard that always does **** his way. it's times like these when hopkins does some crazy **** and redeems himself.

I think he'll just become inactive until a fighter in the SMW division becomes a bigger name and he will try to make a fight with them. He could end up challenging the winner of the Super 6

He will probably be forced to fight Dawson if Chad wins against Pascal. Dawson is the most willing and viable opponent for him.

Let's be real here, how many fighters in the top ten of the divisions Hopkins can still actually weigh-in at, would pass up a chance to put his old ass on their resume while making a little cash?

Sad as it is, this is why legends end up fighting on past their prime; they can easily find opponents. Now, sure, a champion or top contender might get torn up for taking Ol' snaggletooth at this point, but most lower top 10 fighters in SMW, LHW, etc. will probably throw him a bone.

At worst, they get their name mentioned a lot (all publicity is good publicity) and a nice payday.

Plus, I'm sure there's some younger fighter out there that wouldn't mind being the guy to finally KO the elderly B-hop....and it'll happen eventually if he keeps fighting.

Hopkins will do what he wants to do. Doesn't sound like he's interested in fighting Dawson, even though a lot of ppl would like to see it. It's be another big challenge for him. But I can kind of understand him not wanting to fight Chad. Or at least him not being fussed about fighting Dawson. Chad's last 4 fights have been against Tarver and Johnson. Hopkins spanked Tarver even better than Chad did 4 years ago and he completely shut Johnson down like 15 years ago or something when Glen was unbeaten. I think Hop-Dawson would be a close fight, an intriguing contest but at the end of the day it doesn't do much for Hop's legacy... ppl will say, Oh who did Dawson beat?... You know, at the end of the day Hop is 45 so Chad beating Hop isn't that great for him either.... I think Hop should retire, he is starting to look old, not as old as 45 but he should go out right now, his legacy is secure IMO.

Hey, kid, you want to fight another lower level top 10 guy in your division, or you want to beat up an old man for a big payday?

How do you think half the younger, lower ranked division guys would answer that question?

The answer to that determines where Bernard CAN go. I think plenty of people would still fight him, should he choose.

Now, that said, nothing he does from here on out will mean a damn thing, unless he was to win the heavyweight championship which is not only ridiculous but ridiculously dangerous for him.
