Oscar de la Hoya vs Ike Quartey: One of my favorite fights.

We had a HUGE fight party at the house for this one. Pretty much everyone there was rooting for Oscar. I went against the grain and went with Bazooka. But Oscar showed some heart and did his thing in the 12th, but Ike withstood some bombs for about 30 secs and he kept swinging and survived the final bell. Classic bout. This is one of my favorite fights of all time. I thought Ike won it, but I can see why judges would score the fight for Oscar based on the last round...I mean, this is The Golden Boy we are talking about.

    Your thoughts on that fight?

Oscar's best performance IMO. I thought Ike won as well but I have no qualms with Oscar winning because he finished like a winner. Would've been nice if it had occurred a year earlier but still a great matchup. That sixth round was epic.

Just finished watching Azumah Nelson vs. Jeff Fenech I and II; now that was epic. As for Ike vs. Oscar, I had Ike winning but that was very very close, and as IMDAZED said, Oscar finished like the winner.

You seen that live? Must have been great man!

Azumah Nelson fought alot smarter the 2nd time around; looked stronger. Those 2 can really take it.

Those two would beat the **** out of the 130lbers today. Azumah implemented the same strategy he used in the first fight except this time, he wasn't sick.

Oscar deserved the win by my card. Can't remember as it's been a while but I think I had him up even before the 12th.
