it all depends on different variables...
• floyd ko shane = hell freezes over, floyd gets instant redemption
• floyd dominates shane by UD = argument for placing floyd #1 (up for debate)
• floyd stinks out the place = no chance for #1 consideration
• floyd squeaks by with SD = expected safe performance, still #2

also consider, which shane shows up??? if shane doesnt even make it competitive... then plenty of questions and debates will happen.
(ex: pac vs clottey... clottey was a LEGITIMATE threat... but joshua's horrible performance hurt pac a bit... more pac criticisms arose from the fight than pac praises....)

Yes, Floyd would be #1 P4P unquestionably if he defeats Mosley. Floyd is undeniably talented, so I don't dispute his record. He got to where he is because of his skills, so I have no problem giving credit where it is due.

floyd made it VERY clear he didnt want to fight shane... his reasons:
• shane lost before
• shane not a ppv draw
• beating shane wont prove anything

so when manny rushed to fight clottey (legitimately ranked fighter), floyd had nobody to fight except the list of weak opponents that was rumored...
so he knew that if he took a fight with anyone of those listed, it would WRECK his already suspect reputation of cherry picking.

when shane became available, he basically had no choice BUT to face mosley... he had to save face and for once, fight a REAL threat.

the public basically demanded him to fight shane... so why would floyd have a last minute change of heart???

i DO NOT think floyd is scared of shane... but i do believe he sincerely had no desire to fight him... so in a sense, he was "forced"...

He's not done, but he's 38 or so and has been in some wars. So he IS old. But he is past it enough to make it an easy night for Floyd.
