“It does not make sense for this to become a commission matter,” Schaefer told Yahoo! Sports. This is a contractual matter. The commission did not decide the weights or the purse split or how the foreign television rights would be sold."

Bob Arum has issued an ultimatum, but don't think the fight's off if Floyd Mayweather's camp ignores the deadline.

Co-sign.. Just wait until each episode of 24/7 airs as OST is presented to the casual cable audience. It will ONLY strenghten Team Mayyweathers position in the eyes of the HBO executives; think of the viewer feedback that HBO will recieve on thier website. IMHO if Floyd wins impressively, even if it UD over Shane then there is NO WAY ON EARTH that the HBO executives allow drug testing to frustrate this massive moneymaker. The demand will simply be too great and random mutual blood testing will have been presented as a reasonable means of quality control to the HBO audience: regular mainstream sports fans.

Those causal sports afficianados who make the hassle of a mega-fight worth while for HBO executives, they have witnessed far too many fallen heroes and disgraced sports icons during recent years. Team Pacquaio will probably get strong-armed into random OST by HBO; isn't the fight is more marketible to cynical casual fans if the highest quality control standards have already been presented on Mayweather/Mosely 24/7?

read the second paragraph... schaefer said that Olympic style testing was in the original draft.
yea, that **** was in the contract from the beginning. it was only after everything else had been agreed to, that top rank made a big deal outta this thing.

this **** IS a contractual matter. using the commission excuse, gives arum and camp pacquiao, a way out, and at the same time helps them save face with "some" fans. everybody else sees through it tho.

many points have already been brought up but anyway.

#1. Mayweather still has to get by Mosley first. why not wait for that fight outcome first.

#2. I'd like to see that fight date pushed back September, November has been talked about ... why not December for that potential super fight. and besides having the fight with a date of Dec. allows for more time to not only hype up the fight, but sort out this drug testing issue so both parties win

especially considering the kind of money that will be made for the fight, I'd be very surprised/disappointing if an agreement cannot be made between Team Pacquiao + Team Mayweather.

and lastly it sucks to see Margarito, JMM or the Foreman-Cotto winner considered as potential Pacquiao opponents

as Margarito doesn't deserve the fight .. JMM would have to fight at Welter again

and Cotto-Foreman winner would also be a boring fight .. or rematch to a fight Pacquaio took over after 4 rounds.

At first they denied. Fine, It was something that was never requested before, but at this point, after Mosley agreeing to it and Mosley/Mayweather moving along smoothly, it is very su****ious and laughable. Soon Arum will have no choice to succumb to the new era of boxing-- or retire-- or bless his soul; he might die by then. Either way, things are no looking to good from his perspective.

good post. basically any other fight, besides mayweather-pacquiao, would be a disappointment. i agree, something HAS to give, this **** is too big for the sport....and i think it'll happen in november or december, if it happens. i don't think sept. is a go.
