One thing that I think is a really good sign for our sport is that there is a certain level of unpredictability that is coming back to it. And not just in little fights, but in the big ones as well! See lets take a look at some of the big fights that have been made, De La Hoya vs Hopkins in September, Trinidad vs Mayorga in October, Tarver vs Jones way back in June followed by Jones vs Johnson in October, followed by Johnson vs Tarver in December, Corrales vs Freitas in August, Corrales vs Castillo in May, Winky vs Trinidad back in May, Hatton vs Tszyu last night, the list goes on and on. However, the favorite did not win everytime out, and even better then a superfight is a superfight with a suprise result.
Tarver KO's Roy in an upset, the Johnson KO's Roy in an upset, then Johnson beats Tarver in an upset. Trinidad does what he is supposed to against Mayorga, but then he is beat by Winky Wright in an upset. Ricky Hatton suprises many last night and beats Kostya in an upset. This has to be good for boxing! I mean, the focus is not longer on how crooked the sport is, or how unfair a decision was, or how this guy is ducking this guy, but rather how good the fighters are, how good the fights are, how good the fights have turned out to be, and how great the ending was! Boxing is making a resurgance my friend! Mark my words on this matter, we are making the big push back to the mainstream.
