Bradley Might Bypass Abregu Fight For Maidana

    • Here's something I think the Fight Freaks will find pretty interesting: I heard from multiple sources that junior welterweight titlist Tim Bradley will not face Luis Carlos Abregu in a nontitle welterweight bout June 19 on HBO. Instead, I'm told the sides are busy at work trying to make a Bradley title defense against the exciting Marcos Maidana, who looked great on HBO two weeks ago. That's a tremendous fight in boxing's deepest division. Let's hope they can get it done. http://espn.go.com/sports/boxing/blo...s-expectations

Dude is one of the most obnoxious boxing writers, but he's usually spot on with what he puts out there.

This would be another good look for Bradley, no one was really looking forward to the Abregu fight. Timothy Bradley is taking on all comers and stays winning.

Bradley is trying to beat Alexander to the punch. If that happens Alexander should call out the Khan/Malignaggi winner.

From HBO's perspective, they just want the best fights from the the best fighters that would get them the best ratings.

I usually don't go after them because people usually erroneously do it either way, but GBP seems to really want to knock Maidana off for Khan. Maidana will either turn out to be a great fighter or he will probably get knocked out of the picture.

140 is stacked, there's no shortage of opponents there.

I don't see Roach and GBP letting Khan fight Alexander right now. There are a lot of dangerous opponents at 140, I see Khan vs. Ortiz sooner than anything.

Both guys should be dying to get in with Maidana. Maidana now is a name and a name that people consider good. On top of that both Bradley and Alexander beat him so it would be huge in building a fan base. Even if Tim can't get Maidana he should not be fighting Abregu. Abregu does nothing for his resume and it's at a higher weight, a weight that doesn't suit him well.

Golden Boy wants to get rid of Maidana for Khan, that really doesn't matter because Khan will have to face Bradley or Alexander sooner or later.

Its a much better fight for Tim than Abregu risk and reward wise.....a smart move on his part if he takes this one instead.
