    Sergiy dzinziruk to make u.s. Debut on shobox


    Will defend WBO 154-pound belt vs. Sherzod Husanov


    Press Release: On Friday, May 14, 2010, at the Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, California, WBO junior middleweight champion Sergiy Dzinziruk, 36-0 with 22 KOs, of The Ukraine, will make his sixth title defense against Sherzod Husanov, 14-0-1 with 7 KOs, of Uzbekistan. It will be televised on Showtime’s “Shobox: The New Generation” series, beginning at 11 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast.) Dzinziruk will make his United States debut in this fight - he has been based in Germany for his entire professional career and fought exclusively in Europe. Now 34 years old, he won the WBO title in December, 2005. He was also an international amateur standout – Sergiy represented Ukraine in the 1996 Olympics and was the silver medalist at the 1997 World Championships. Husanov, 30 years old, is also making his U.S. debut. He represented Uzbekistan in the 2000 and 2004 Olympics and was the silver medalist at the 2003 World Championships and the bronze medalist at the 2001 World Championships. The co-featured bout is to be announced.
