Ok, so we all know Marquez arguably beat Pacquiao twice. Once early in Pacquiao's career and once again 4 years later after Freddie Roach touted Pacquiao as multi-dimensional with power in both hands and incredible footwork. This was the same Pacquiao coming off impressive wins over a shot Morales and a decision over Barrera.
We hear these facts from the video below:
The first fight was a draw, the rematch a highly controversial decision for Pacquiao. The polls from my other thread clearly show the majority of fans think Marquez won that fight, as do the greater majority of boxing analyst from all around the world - including the Philippines.
We all know Mayweather had a very close fight with Castillo, he fought with a torn rotary cuff injury. However, like a true warrior, he re-matched him immediately and won a very clear decision proving his superiority in the ring.
Freddie Roach, in Ring Magazine, stated that if Pacquiao took that kind of punishment ever again that he would force him to retire. Perhaps Roach advised him not to ever fight someone as dangerous as Marquez again, I really don't know.
Why do you think Manny Pacquiao didn't fight Marquez again? The fans wanted the fight badly. Pacquiao claims he fights for his fans, so I'm a bit confused why he turned down a guaranteed $6M and an opportunity to satisfy his fans thirst for a trilogy.
My opinion is that Pacquiao was frustrated in the ring against Marquez and wanted no more and decided it's safer to move up and fight guys coming off brutal losses below their natural weight.
