Comments Thread For: Jorge Arce Looks To Make History With Eric Morel

WBO super flyweight champion Jorge Arce will look to make history when he moves up to bantamweight to challenge the WBO's interim-belt holder Eric Morel of Puerto Rico on June 26 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The main event will feature Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. John Duddy. Arce will first have to get past a title defense on April 24 against Cecilio Santos at the Centro de Usos Multiples in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico. [Click Here To Read More]

is this going to be on ppv? because I'd like to see Arce/Morel. Could give a damn about the underachieving JCC jr fight.

He was an interim titlist at Flyweight who never actually fought for the BC's real belt...this would be the cheapest 'four' in a minute.

Classic **** about "making history" from the era of four or five champions per division. Acre was an "interim" flyweight champion but never fought Wonjongkam for the full WBC title. That somehow counts as a real title in the "making history" department. As a super flyweight, he's been pounded against legit champions and only won the vacant WBO belt recently because he was put in with a third-rate fighter.
To put him in the same category with other great Mexican fighters like Chavez, Saldivar, Barrera, Olivares, Arizmendi, Zarate, Canto and the Marquez brothers just because he may win a portion of a title in four divisions is silly.
Acre in his prime was fun to watch and a hell of a puncher, but he's not in the league of Mexican greats. Even a badly faded Morel will probably slap him around.

Didn't Erik Morales just become the first Mexican Fighter two have four titles in four different weight divisions. I think he did. And he did not even get recognized for it.

Erik didn't win a world title,he won an international WBC title which doesn't mean much if anything.

Arce is going to end up badly hurt. He is as done as done gets.

There's no history to be made with cheap cardboard interim titles!

There's no way Arce is going to make history fighting & winning cheap ass cardboard interim titles that are only good so that the organism's could make $$$$ charging sanctioning fees...& anyway, I think Morel is gonna beat the **** out of Arce..At least Arce will fight Morel, not like ***** ass Montiel who's been avoiding Morel for the longest time..
