I honestly believe it was coming back down from HW that ruined him,
Jones has been finished since

Thanx for the info, Zod.
I think the Tarver rematch forever damaged his psyche but he was never the same after moving back down. Couple that with the countless shots he took in that first Tarver match and it was a wrap.Comment

No problemo
Good points, I completely agreeComment

A win over RJJ after Glen Johnson is worthless and not relevant. The first two Tarver wins are relevant, the Glen Johnson one is almost not relevant but still.
Everything after doesn't mean ****. That means: Slappy, the legend who got schooled by Mundine, the guy who take people's souls with 12 rounds boring UD all didnt't beat the real RJJ.Comment

He was finished after the Ruiz fight. He even said that moving to heavyweight was the worst thing he's done. Add to this the weight he had to lose in the few months between Ruiz and Tarver. Watch Woods (fight before heavyweight at lightheavy) Then watch the first Tarver fight. The mass he put on and took off restricted his movement and his athleticism. Anything after Ruiz is void in my eyes.Comment

Agreed Jones never was as motivated again as he was for the Ruiz fight...But he showed up a few times here and there. Vs tarver III Roy Jones Jr showed up again in about the 5th round, still losing 7-5 to me but it was great seeing him show up one last time and try. But yes he was done being Prime Roy the P4P guy back in 2004 when they strapped that HW belt to his waist he had nothing left to really prove to himself. thats what it was Jones could do it to prove it to himself but when he had nothing left to prove he wasn't the same. Great career and probably the best fighter in his prime I ever seen.Comment
