2003 was the definite end of Hopkins prime.

After the Joppy fight, Hopkins went into over cautious low workrate defence style.

Mid to late 90's.Hopkins at his peak didn't hold and spoil. He was a very active, consistent fighter who was effective on both the outside and the inside. His right hand(which remains his great weapon today) was alot quicker and had more pop to it then.Hopkins was also alot more offensive minded which combined with his counter punching made for a pretty exciting fighter to watch believe it or not.

Watch Hopkins rematch with Mercado, his first fight with Echols and his fight with Andrew Council to see Hopkins at his peak.He wasn't boring to watch.

Hopkins start to change his style around the time he fought Syd Vanderpool.

I thought Hopkins was surely on the slide after Carl Daniels. Don't mistake winning for still being in your prime. Even Roy wasn't exactly at his peak anymore when he was in his 30's.
Just remember, even Robert Allen, the man that fought him twice before, said Hopkins was declining.

Peak would be maybe Tito as being his last fight...maybe. Still like the Pre-Tito more though.

About 98 to 2003. Like dominicano said after the Joppy fight he was not the same. His output went way down, and his sneaky tactics went up.
