"Zab receives IBF award!
Saturday, June 4 2005
WBC/WBA/IBF welterweight champion Zab "Super" Judah, Brooklyn, N.Y. Friday night received the IBF's special "Jersey Joe Walcott Award" for his achievements. Judah, the former IBF 140-lb. champion, won the championship by stopping Cory "The Next Generation" Spinks at the Savvis Center in St. Louis, Mo. before an indoor arena record of 22,372 fans, on Feb. 2. The talented southpaw, then made his mandatory defense on May 15, 2005 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nev., as the co-feature to the Trinidad vs. Wright event, with a devestating knockout performance over the dangerous No.1 contender, Cosme "Chino" Rivera from Mexico.

Judah attended the IBF Convention with his wife and three children, and thoroughly enjoyed the week. "I have really enjoyed the week here with all of the family of boxing," said the happy Judah. "I see how the system works and see how hard everyone works for the sport. I am deeply honored to be receiving the prestigious 'Jersey Joe Walcott Award', that is only given for special achievments. My family and I had a ball." The Convention is ending tomorrow morning with much of the IBF business for the coming year being discussed openly at the spirited gathering of boxing personalities."-*********.com
