People are actually buying into this crap???

As I said before, yes Hopkins did dominate him tonight and yes he is older and I give him a lot of props for that, but come on, you know good and well that Jones wasn't the same fighter he was when he dominated John Ruiz, and Hopkins is a helluva lot closer to the way he was in his prime. RJJ ruined his body when gaining 30+lbs for the Ruiz fight, and then losing it so quickly for his next one against Tarver. He ruined it so badly that even when he moved back up to fight Danny Green, he was STILL shot. His chin, legs and more than half of his athleticism is gone.

And for the record, he schooled Hopkins back when he was the #1 Middleweight and Jones Jr was #2. During their primes Hopkins never stood a chance. Just look at how he backed up the entire time in the first fight, and Jones Jr attacked him for the full 12 rounds. It was like the exact opposite tonight, which proves that RJJ isn't the same.

There's a reason why RJJ beat Toney. There's a reason why Calzaghe ducked him until he was a zombie. There was a reason he schooled Hopkins when they were young. Because he's more skilled than all three! And if you actually think this fight proved something then you must be on some serious sherm...Hopkins is a great fighter and he's done a lot in his 40s that many cannot say, but come on, this fight didn't mean anything. RJJ is my second favorite ATG fighter behind Leonard, and even I predicted a KO in any round at any time...

Both fighters looked terrible. It's worse for Hopkins because he's not the shot fighter between the two. Hopkins did look his age a bit in this fight. I thought he would try to KO Jones, but he just slowed down towards the end of the fight. Too bad he won't take on Chad Dawson, a much more meaningful fight for Hopkins.

The notion that Jones is shot only because he gained and lost weight is ridiculuous. He got old, he doesn't have basic fundamentals and faded athleticism.

A fight where he would lose badly.

But the Tarver/Johnson fights were shortly after the Ruiz fight, which he looked good in...In fact the first Tarver fight was in the same year. I'm sure age did kick in eventually and make the matter worse, but he declined literally right after he lost the weight. He looked horrible in the first Tarver fight, showed that his chin was gone in the second fight and pretty much played survival in the third fight. Then he tried to play survival against Johnson and got KO'ed. Age started to catch up around the Trinidad and Calzaghe fights.
