    The Story of Bobby Gunn

Boxrec might only have him listed as 3-0 and his opponents worse but that is totally false. Bobby Gunn the now NABC and WBE Crusierweight champion of the world record accounts for 13 wins 1 loss and 1 draw. His only loss came when he was being trained by Panama Lewis in the early 90's. Bobby had knocked down his opponent 2 times in the round but suffered a compound fracture in his right arm prior to the fight. The ref noticed how bad his arm was and called the fight even though his opponent had been down twice on the canvas. Signed with Don King Gunn was suppose to be the next big thing but suffered an accident while painting (his side job) and broke his leg. Don dropped him and Gunn fought up in Canada. He fought under another name in Canada to make his age legit since he was fighting pro at age 16 in America. With over 300 amature fights and former world champion of Canada Gunn made his way back to the states a few years back. After brutally stopping all of his fights, he finally had a match with O Neil Bell for a title. Bell never showed for the weigh in and the fight was called off. After years of being ducked by many fighters Gunn finally got his shot for gold. Under manager Richard King, the NABC and WBE Crusieweight title fight was on for June 2nd 2005. Gunn fought tough Jeff Holcomb (16-3 true record). Gunn brutally stopped him in 5 rounds while breaking his jaw, nose and rib. I sat first row and watched in awe at the pure punching power of Bobby. As I got in the ring (my dad is his manager) I saw Holcomb personally close laying on the canvas out. It took 15 minutes to get him out of the ring. Finally now with two world championships under his belt, he will be moving on to bigger paydays. Hopefully the sucess continues from here on.
