Mike Tyson. Overrated Yes or No

Is Iron mike overated. Me personally i say yes. Its not that i doubt his power or his speed. Its just that mike has fought nothin but chumps his whole career. Any real fight that he had he lost. Buster douglas cleaned his clock, holyfield whooped his ass, lewis destroyed his face, Danny Williams "shocked the........." oh wait by this time it was no shock at all, i mean come on this guy even got beat by his Girl Robin Givens. So that is why i say he is overated. Great knockout artist, tenatious fighter, but no heart or skill.
What? Do you disagree.? Tell me why

skills: overrated, can't land a jab or an overhand right anymore

power: extremely overrated, could barely put a dent in a pudgy Danny Williams

marketing ability: completely UNDERrated, he should still be getting at least $10 million per fight with all of the sell-out crowds he draws, combined with better-than-average PPV #'s, but Skelly Finkel and Showtime now get that $$$ rather than Mike

I think in his prime.thought he didnt have the total boxing skills..he did pretty good without them..His power isnt overrated..tell that to Spinks..and countless others he obliterated..i think he is more overHYPED more than anything..he was a beast during his prime.

He doesn't have the same sort of power he used to have. He was one of the hardest hitters boxing has ever seen in his prime, though.

True, but remember when his prime was: about 1989. I was 9 years old then. I now make 6 figures. Things, obviously, change with time.

At his best his power was well above average but he was really not even the hardest hitter of his era. In fact, I don't think he hit much harder than Bonecrusher Smith; he was just quicker and more accurate. His power is overrated more than anything I think. Power is the last thing to go and his punches aren't much weaker today then they ever were in 1986. It's just that he is a little slower now and so they don't have the same effect.

What made Tyson an extremely dangerous man was his headmovement and combination punches as well as very good power in BOTH hands. Tommy Morrison probably hit harder with his left hook but Tyson had great heavyweight power coming at you from both sides, from all angles, and at insane speeds.

I wonder if Tyson won a belt in today's watered-down heavyweight division (and lets not get into whether or not he will) if it would change the perspective of some of these people who are saying that he is overrated. I would think it would to a degree, despite the fact that this heavyweight division kind of sucks... In any event, I am of the camp that Tyson is properly rated, not overrated...
