hmm
Reid lost a split decision to Joe Calzaghe years ago in his prime. It was an oddly scored fight where two judges had it 116-111 for Joe and one had it 116-11 for Reid. From all I've heard it was a close, good fight. Reid didn't go down and neither did Calazghe, which probably affirms both their chins and power.
Reid lost to an older Thulane Malinga, Silvio Branco, and he was robbed vs a faded German super-puss named Sven Ottke. All in all Reid has beaten the typical European fringe guys (SD vs Hacine Cherifi and a UD vs Brian Magee recently in a fight which he floored Magee 4 times...my uncle reffed that fight in Ireland by the way, and will also ref Reid'Lacy).
Reid beat a "name" in Julio Cesar Vasquez, who beat Winky Wright and Javier Castillejo. However, by the time Reid beat Vasquez, Vasquez was pretty damn long in the tooth.
Reid's last fight was at lightheavyweight, vs a nobody, and being that Reid is 34 and his hasn't been that active, and according to reports I've read on his recent fights, Reid is nearing the end himself.
In any case, Reid is a legit top 3 supermiddleweight and he has enough in the tank to give Lacy a fight. Should Lacy win, it would mean he has "arrived" and it would trigger a fight with Calzaghe (well, Calzagheand Warren CLAIM that's the case anyway).Comment

Great post SL, that pretty much sums up Reid's career accomplishments, or lackthereof, depending on who you ask.....Originally posted by Super_LightweightReid lost a split decision to Joe Calzaghe years ago in his prime. I saw Reid 2-3 times in the mid-90's on Showtime, he's got a heavyweight physique and throws monster punches, but he seemed to always go flat after 4-5 hard rounds and become too methodical, my guess is that it will take Lacy about 1/2 the fight to figure Reid out then he'll get into a rhythm and blast Reid into a corner & force a stoppage but we'll have to wait til August to see!!!Comment
