Cotto vs Mayweather jr Facts: WHO DUCKED WHO?

I keep hearing from Cotto fans that Mayweather ducked Cotto stating that he lived too far (in Puerto Rico)

and I keep hearing Mayweather fans state that Cotto ducked Mayweather at 140 claiming that Cotto wasn't ready yet for that type of challenge..

I know myself, a blatant duck that I can think of was in the Post-Fight interview after KO'ing Ricky Hatton...Larry Merchant clearly asks Floyd about Miguel Cotto being the undefeated guy at 147lbs and just a month before that he defeated Shane Mosley and Floyd Mayweathers response was: "I will retire from Boxing before I let Boxing retire me!"..

you can take that how you like..but that was pretty obvious to me..and it was the PERFECT time to conduct that bout..both undefeated #1 and #2 WW's coming off great wins against Mosley and Hatton..

I can't find the youtube video, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who remembers that..but can anyone pull up facts whether they are videos or links rather than "here say" on why the DREAM MATCH never happened and who's fault it really was???...

That statement had nothing to do with Cotto. He told Cotto to be his own boss and hed fight him.

Cotto never did. Fight never happened.

Neither camp made any type of offers at all. Its BOTH of their fault.

At 147 I don't think neither one of them really ducked each other. If Floyd wanted to retire so be it. I don't have any problem with it. Neither one of them called each other out at 147. Neither one of them were eager to face each other at 147 IMO.

They both seemed pretty apathetic towards each other in all honesty.

When the fight should've happened, after Mayweather/Hatton and Cotto/Mosley, neither side seemed especially interested.

Mayweather negotiated a rematch with De La Hoya and then "retired". Cotto went along with Arum's plans for a showdown with Margarito.

Most of the "facts" in cases like this are behind closed doors, what goes on between both camps in negotiations, not what's said in a damn interview. From what we know about negotiations, there weren't any serious talks.

actually a floyd and cotto fight was always in the works. Back from when they both fought on the same card in a fresno hbo event. Cotto was even at the gatti fight. Mayweather's camp made an offer to cotto's camp and evangelista turned it down. They knew it wasn't a right time for cotto.

and TS who in the *** said floyd didn't fight cotto because he lived to far? Are you really this ****** to believe that? You do know boxing is a world wide sport right? You know the fight would have been in vegas right? you know floyd has fought people from argentina and mexico right? I hope boxing fans haven't become this ****** to believe such a ******ed statement and the fact that someone said that just reminds me why i need to stay away from pathetic ass NSB.
