WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (23-1, 21 KO’s) weighed in at 222 at today’s weigh-in for his heavyweight clash on Saturday night against American John Ruiz at the M.E.N. Arena, in Manchester, England. For his part, Ruiz weighed a slim 231, which is a low weight for him. Haye weighed in at 5 pounds heavier than his previous performance last year against WBA heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev in November 2009. Haye weighed 217 for that fight. Hopefully the added weight doesn’t slow Haye down and cause him to be sluggish if the bout goes into the later rounds.

Haye looked pretty solid at 222, but really Ruiz was more like 228-229 because he was wearing jeans, sneakers, and a shirt
