Abraham vs Pavlik would've been a beautiful fight

Maybe it can still happen one day, at 168 or something? In so many ways this could've been a war. Pavlik with his long limbs and high workrate trying to get in range and make a fight out of it, and Abraham staying in his shell until BAM!!! he comes out swinging and turns it into a war. And both with legit KO power.

Just beautiful, and tragic at the same time. Who ducked who?

Even if it does happen, it won't be the same as it could have been.

#1 vs. #2, The Ring champion against The Ring #1 contender for all the marbles at 160. Both of them were undefeated (or one loss for Kelly either way) at the time too. It gets no better than that, **** had FOTY candidate written all over it.

Edit: Kelly ducked and **** Bob Arum.

Was it that he chose to fight Hopkins instead, or something?

Doesn't surprise me. Kelly had more to lose.

No, because Abraham was begging for a unification fight since before the Miranda fight.

Arum didn't even enter into negotiations with Sauerland, Arum told them Abraham needed to build his name up in the US before a fight could happen. They wanted a big fight for Pavlik, so they went after Calzaghe, then Williams, and settled on Hopkins.

After Hopkins shut him down, the Abraham fight became his best option. But he chose Rubio as a comeback fight, which is understandable, but he had no excuse to not fight him after that. They preferred going after the lighter hitting Williams and Felix Sturm. As if people in the US could tell the difference between Abraham and Sturm.

Abraham only stayed at 160 because of the possibility of fighting Pavlik. He had to fake an illness and postpone the Marquez fight because he didn't make weight. Yet he stuck around fighting Lajuan Simon and Mahir Oral? Arum never gave them the time of day.

Both fighters are still in their respective primes, so I don’t see why that this fight can’t be as good as if it took place in earlier years. Who knows where these fighters will be in a year or so? Pavlik could be back on top of the boxing world and decide to move up to SMW; and Abraham could well win the tournament or place runner up. In any event, I hope these two fighters do meet up in the future and give us a memorable fight…
