    But anyway.

Not many fighters can admit they are past it. They go on and on until they are completely forced out.

I remember hearing that in Japan, in Sumo wrestling, that if a Yokozuna (and maybe any wrestler at that...not sure on the rules)...but they can be forced to retire if they lose to much.

Roy was already on the decline even before his move up to HW but he was still ahead of the game where it didn't matter as much. But after he came back down from HW, his body was ruined and so was his career. He should have retired after Ruiz or stayed at HW and fought another big HW with a title...like Lewis...who more than likely would have knocked him out so maybe not the best choice either.
Everything you said is most likely true. He should have called it quits when it was obvious his age and body had betrayed him in the first Tarver fight. Had he left then, he would probably be considered the greatest of all time right now. Of course, hindsight is always 20/20.

4 Million USD is a lot of cash and he probably though he would win anyways.(there was a protest prior to the fight and it was ignored)
Roy is a warrior and wasn't gona let down the event and the boxing fans. No way. He just ****** it up and went through with the fight hoping for the best.

he wasn't gonna just not fight and go home with no money. He was confident in his skills to beat danny regardless, but he knew he had to watch out for the brick hands. He covered up nice, but he got hit wit a shot in the back of the head. Roy isn't shot, just older, but he fights a bit different cus of it, but he is a still very capable fighter

            Very pathetic indeed.

Roy was KOed because he's not very good any more. That's reality.

Roy is still a really impressive fighter, still smart, fast enough etc Definitely past his best but his attributes and brain are still working well enough.

It is just his chin, it was never a rock solid McCall type chin, but it was pretty reliable. But dropping back down from HW messed around with punch resistance, then the subsequent KO losses made it worse and worse, to the point where his chin is ****.

He would have taken Danny to pieces if his chin was still decent, if you watch the fight, he is moving alright, and tagging Danny with some nice jabs, and looking OK. It is just the chin.

Chris Byrd's dropping down in weight was a bit shocking to watch. Wasn't overly surprised because he looked ill but he went from taking shots from much bigger men to just looking awful against Shawn George.

There is only so much you can take even at a "healthy" weight...your just adding to it with destroying your body with weight loss...specifically muscle loss and to late in your career.
